Linda Tegg in East Timor

As part of her artist in residence with the School of Geography, Linda Tegg accompanied students and researchers from the East Timor field class to their field sites in the Timorese highlands and began developing her work on 'Sensing Geography' through a participant observer research praxis and visual data collection.

In the central highlands where coffee growing is ubiquitous and customary intuitions resilient, Linda can be seen focusing on capturing the minutiae of everyday tactility, as students wait to greet a customary elder. The capturing of these moments has been worked into a multiscreen piece that forces the viewer to think about how the subtleties of touch work to read or sense the world in variegated but often little noticed ways.
