Artist in Residence in Geography: Open Studio at the Ian Potter Museum of Art
The 2018-2019 School of Geography Artists in Residence, Museum Incognita, would like to invite geographers and friends to participate in an Open Studio with the artists, to be held from Monday 27 May – Friday 7 June on weekday lunchtimes (via appointment) at The Ian Potter Museum of Art at the University of Melbourne. Museum Incognita are Fayen d’Evie and Katie West.
Museum Incognita have been quietly, but busily, developing their project over past months through networks in the Shepparton area, in collaboration with Shepparton Art Museum and the Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences at Dookie campus.
In the wake of this intense period of activity, Fayen and Katie are holding this Open Studio with the aim to bring their work in dialogue with geographers and adjacent interlocutors, to deepen their conversation with geographers as their project continues to develop within and beyond the bounds of the residency. We will be arranging for people to come through the Open Studio one-by-one or in small groups, with a focus on facilitating in-depth and productive conversations.
We will shortly be circulating more details about the event via email, including how to sign up for a lunchtime visit. For more information in the meantime or to be added to this email list, please contact Vickie Zhang at: email@example.com.
Public events are also being planned to culminate the residency later in the year at Shepparton Art Museum and The Ian Potter Museum of Art.
If you are interested in seeing more of Katie and Fayen’s work, both artists are currently exhibiting at shows across Victoria and New South Wales.
Katie West’s solo exhibition Clearing is currently showing at the TarraWarra Museum of Art, until 19 May, as part of CLIMARTE’s ART+CLIMATE=CHANGE 2019.
Fayen d’Evie’s ‘Essays in Vibrational Poetics’ is currently showing in The National: New Australian Art at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, until 21 July.
