Adapting to Climate Change

Staff and students in the School of Geography work closely with local, state and national governments to help inform their policies and planning for a changed climate.

Staff and students in the School of Geography work closely with local, state and national governments to help inform their policies and planning for a changed climate. This includes projects with various Australian governments, including the Victorian and New South Wales governments’ climate change adaptation teams, as well as East Gippsland Shire, Wellington Shire, Mornington Peninsula Shire and Eurobodalla Shire Councils, helping to understand social vulnerability, public expectations of governments, and pathways for responding to sea-level rise. Staff in the School have a close engagement with the National Climate Change Adaptation Research Facility, serve on the Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water & Planning’s Climate Change’s adaptation advisory panel, and serve on the Victorian Coastal Council Science Panel.
